I am just about finished with the Throne of Jade and hope to start on Black Powder War tomorrow.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01772359439464814579noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13266751.post-7018911782658096392008-10-20T15:41:00.000-04:002008-10-20T15:41:00.000-04:00I've just finished book four of this series this m...I've just finished book four of this series this morning and its a vast improvement over Black Powder War. Unfortunately it ended with such a moment that I now have to run down the shops and pick up the fifth book. I do really hope it ends in a way as those endless series can get you down.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13184006279076949447noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13266751.post-77588679603579658042008-10-19T19:19:00.000-04:002008-10-19T19:19:00.000-04:00Review for first book: http://hgamer.blogspot.com/...Review for first book: http://hgamer.blogspot.com/2008/07/book-thoughts-his-majestys-dragon.html

The series definitely has no ending as of book 3. Actually, book 3 is just filler to get the characters back to good old Britain. Book 2 fills in as a much more definitive end to the story line up to that point.

I am a believer that any author making a series does the first 3 books for everyone, the latter books for the fans.

Personally, I am only 3 books deep into Wheel of Time, but I want to finish it at some point. I could care less if it drags out on the later books, because I know I am reading it as a fan of the world.

Actually, I do a lot of 3 book series.heartlessgamerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02809717223567961650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13266751.post-12593942392107634932008-10-19T16:58:00.000-04:002008-10-19T16:58:00.000-04:002 questions:1 -- did you ever review book 1? I read the previous review with interest and forgot to write the author down -- this time I really will do it.

2 -- is this likely to become an ever-bloating "cycle" type series, or does it actually end (however unfulfillingly) with this book 3? Unlike many Robert Jordan fans, I tend to really dislike cycles -- they usually contain about 4 books and 3000 pages too many (and I like big books, but only when they're worthwhile).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
