That had me looking at what Blogger offers these days... and... that is nothing. Seems like Google is just letting Blogger coast. So off to Reddit's blogging subreddit to ask if I am crazy and to see what else is out there.
That resulted in some suggestions I'll be evaluating
- Substack
- Publii (static site)
- Wordpress
- Ghost.org
- and some more in the thread

I'm never really sure why people keep bagging on Blogger. It works fine for me and Google's benign neglect is one of the best things about it. I'd take that any day over the constant fiddling and change for change's sake you get with every app i active development.
