World of Warcraft Patch 2.4

Today is the day! Patch 2.4 is on the Blizzard downloader and sometime this afternoon World of Warcraft players around the world will be romping through Sunwell Isle. See the excitement in my typing? See it!?

The basics of the patch for me are: Druid's Cyclone gets nerfed, Shamans get slightly buffed, but Shamans still suck and Cycloning Druids will continue to be crazy-popular in PvP. The status quo remains unchanged.

There will be some new loot to achieve as players cash in Badges of Justice, PvE currency, for PvP rewards. Sorry, there is no way to pay honor, PvP currency, for PvE gear. Blizzard doesn't like PvP to lead to PvE. However, PvE that leads to PvP is awesome in their eyes, because PvE takes like coordination and skillz and stuff. PvP takes no skill, especially for the AFKers and Warlocks.

Yes, I said I was quitting WoW, but I just can't do it. Blizzard is buffing Shamans! Even if it is just a little bit, I've waited too long for instant Ghost Wolf to quit now!!!

Forgive me if I'm not quivering with joy at my paltry ghost wolf buff.

I was optimistic when the blues announced that shamans were getting buffed and enhancement was maybe getting a PvP rebalance that might make them arena-worthy, but alas, the shaman community was right.

It IS Blizz's favorite thing to do to tease shamans. Seriously. Someone must have repeatedly ganked their ally dev team asses with a shaman way back in the day when we were OP.

  2. I hate it when people say Shamans were OP back in the day simply because we could get a big WF crit with our massive 2handers on some low armor clothie.

That was also back in the day when a geared warrior was unkillable. Back when mages could kill you with a single pyroblast WITHOUT having to rely on a LUCKY WF!

There was alot of OPness back then, but for some reason Enhance Shamans with WF were the only ones that got remembered. Then they forget that WF was repeatedly nerfed into the ground along with the entire Elemental spec. Then the resto spec finally got the love and is now truly the only viable spec for Shamans.

  4. So far it is a bit better. Sunwell is a zoo, honor gear is a free for all, and a couple epics later I am happy.

Sadly, I've been kicked from a dozen Magister's Terrace groups because I am not Resto Spec. sadface

Oh, and a Horde PUG won an AV!

  5. Good to hear. Not surprised about Sunwell though. That's pretty par for the course.
